Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy was initially developed in 1987 for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is guided by the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, which is a theory about how uour brain processes and stores memories. EMDR is an individual therapy typically delivered one to two times per week for about of 6-12 sessions.

What is EMDR?

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, or EMDR, is a therapy type designed primarily for Trauma and PTSD. It involves moving your eyes in a specific way while you process traumatic memories. This therapy type is still relatively new, but dozens of clinicial studies have already shown its effectiveness in helping people recover from Traumatic experiences.

The biggest appeal of EMDR is that it doesn't involve talking about your traumatic experience. Instead, it focuses on changing the emotional and physical response associated with the memories.
